Questions & Straight Answers

Everything homeowners ask.

Grouped by topic. If yours isn't here, just call or text — we'd rather answer once than send you digging through a page.

Pricing & quotes

How much does stump grinding cost?

Most residential stumps land between $90 and $350. Four things drive the number: diameter, species, access, and how much cleanup you want. Multi-stump jobs drop in price fast because setup is the biggest fixed cost.

How do I get a quote?

Text or email a photo of the stump(s), your zip code, and any access notes (gate width, stairs, etc.). Most quotes come back within 24 hours.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. Photo estimates are free and same-to-next-day in most cases. On-site estimates are free for larger or complex jobs.

Is the price flat or hourly?

Flat. You get the price in writing and that's what you pay on completion.

The grinding process

How deep do you grind?

6–12 inches below grade on a standard job. Deeper on request if your project needs it — let us know up front.

Do you remove the roots too?

The main flare and surface roots, yes. Deep underground laterals usually stay put — they rot out naturally over a few seasons and cause no problems.

How long does it take?

Most single-stump jobs are under an hour on-site. Bigger stumps or multi-stump jobs take longer.

Is stump grinding better than digging?

For most residential jobs, yes. Grinding is cheaper, faster, and leaves the surrounding yard intact. Digging makes sense only when you need the entire root ball gone — say, for a deep foundation.

Cleanup & after

Do you clean up the chips?

You've got three choices: leave them in the grind spot as fill, spread them as mulch in your beds, or flat-fee haul-away. We'll explain the options when we quote.

Can I plant grass after?

Yes. Remove or mix out the chips, add topsoil, and seed or sod. Give it a few weeks to settle first.

Will the yard be a mess?

No. Every job ends with a rake and sweep of the work area even if cleanup isn't in the scope. You'll barely see we were there.

Access & logistics

Can you grind a stump in a fenced backyard?

Yes. Our equipment fits through a standard 36" gate. For anything narrower, tell us up front and we'll confirm the fit.

How fast can you schedule?

Photo quote: usually within 24 hours. Typical job lead time: 3–7 days. Storm cleanup and urgent listings get priority when possible.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. If access is clear and the scope is in writing, many jobs run without you there. We'll text when we arrive and when we finish.

What about underground utilities?

We handle the Ohio 8-1-1 locate request before digging near lines. It's free and standard.

Other services

Do you offer brush removal too?

Yes. Brush piles, fence-line clearing, post-storm cleanup, and light land clearing. Bundles nicely with stump grinding.

Commercial jobs?

Yes, within scope. Small commercial, property manager, and realtor work all welcome.

Forestry mulching / large land clearing?

Not currently. For small residential and commercial clears we're the right size. For 5+ acre clears we'll refer you.
